Re-publication was requested by the Project and Program Management Journal for Walt Lipke’s article “Earned Schedule Contribution to Project Management.” Permission was given October 21 to the joint Russian publishers, SOVNET and Grebennikov. The Russian language translation of the article is scheduled to appear in either the February or May 2013 journal |

Three presentations were made by Walt Lipke during October and November. “Earned Schedule Contribution to Project Management” was made at the PMI-Austin Professional Development Day held on 11 October. Two presentations were made via Skype and the PowerPoint broadcast feature to EVM Europe on 28 and 29 November. The titles of the two presentations are: (1) “Speculations of Project Duration Forecasting,” and (2) Earned Schedule …application to Small Projects.” |

Walt Lipke published three articles; one in the CrossTalk journal and two in The Measurable News. The title of the CrossTalk article is “Schedule Adherence and Rework.” The titles of the two articles in The Measurable News are: (1) “Speculations on Project Duration Forecasting,” and (2) Further Study of the Normality of CPI and SPI(t).” |

A small flaw was discovered in the Statistical Prediction Calculator which prevented the six sigma confidence level calculations. The calculator has been corrected and re-titled “Statistical Forecasting Calculator.” |

This coming year will mark the 10th year of Earned Schedule. At this time it appears two conferences will bring focus to the relatively new extension to EVM. These conferences are EVM World 2013 (May) and EVM Europe 2013 (Dec.). Further information will be provided in subsequent ES website updates. Also, information may be obtained by directly accessing the websites for the conferences. |

The popularity of the ES website continues to increase. The number of requests set a new record high of 55,399 in November. |
May - September 2012 |

A new on-line project management journal, PM World Journal, has been launched by David Pells. The current September issue is its 2nd publication. The journal is free, allowing download of articles. In the near future it will host the articles formerly published in PM World Today, organized by author. The journal has very progressive plans for the future, offering its published articles in 60 languages. |

Walt Lipke has an article in the September issue of PM World Journal, "Earned Schedule Contribution to Project Management." The article provides a description of the schedule analysis capability Earned Schedule provides to those using EVM. Dr. Jeffrey Pinto, Pennsylvania State University, has published the third edition of his text book, Project Management Achieving Competitive Advantage. The fundamentals of Earned Schedule (ES) have been included as an appendix to the chapter, “Project Evaluation and Control.” The book is available from Amazon and Barnes & Noble. |

Bill Mowery, a Master’s Student of Dr. Pinto, helped write the ES appendix to Dr. Pinto’s third edition book. Mr. Mowery submitted a paper describing ES in a technology innovation contest at his company, CSC. His paper, against strong competition, was selected as the 2012 Grand Prize Winner. If a company release can be obtained Mr. Lowery’s paper will be included on the Papers page of this website in the future. |

In May, Mr. Williams Chirinos requested permission to use ES materials in his project management tool, IPM-Professional. Mr. Chirinos has launched a website, www.inexertus.com, where download of a free trial copy of the new tool is offered. The tool integrates several project management methods, with the expectation of enhancing the application of EVM. |

At EVM World 2012, held 30 May – 1 June, Dr. Mario Vanhoucke was a keynote speaker. The topic of his presentation was “If Time Is Money, Accuracy Pays.” Dr. Vanhoucke’s presentation focused on his research of project schedules. Also, at this conference, Stephan Vandevoorde presented “Commercial Sector EVM Implementation in Europe at Fabricom.” Both presentations are available for download from the Presentations page. |

The ES concept document accessed using the Concept Description link has been changed due to the dissolution of the PMI MetSIG. The presentation, “Earned Schedule – An Emerging Enhancement to Earned Value Management,” once available from the MetSIG website is now accessible from the Concept Description document and the Presentations page. |

The EBook versions of Earned Schedule have been re-converted and are now available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the Apple iBookstore. The new versions have corrected the errata in the current paperback and now have color images along with all of the niceties of an EBook. As well, the PDF EBook has been revised, including all corrections and color images. The PDF is available from Lulu. |

PM World Today, in its last on-line issue (March 2012), published Walt Lipke’s paper, “Speculations on Project Duration Forecasting.” The paper, available for download from the publisher’s website and the Papers page, suggests a method for improving ES forecasting for projects having very parallel network schedules. |

Dr. Mario Vanhoucke has published a second book on dynamic scheduling which contains valuable information concerning ES, EVM, the P-Factor and many other things. Effort has begun to translate the ES book to the Spanish language. The translation is being performed by Diego Navarro and Mario Coquillat. It is expected the translation will be completed before the year’s end and hopefully published and available soon thereafter. |

Interest in the ES website has been increasing dramatically. The number of hits on the website for the first four months of the year have been astonishingly high: Jan – 47836, Feb – 43010, Mar – 51365, and Apr – 49081. |
