The PMI Practice Standard for Scheduling, which includes ES, is presently in the process of finalizing publication. The process appears to be on schedule with document approval to occur during February 2019 and document release to follow in October. |

Walt Lipke’s article, “Earned Schedule Forecasting Method Selection,” was submitted for publication in the Project Management World Journal. The editor indicates the article will appear in the January 2019 issue. The article identifies a set of criteria for improving forecasting accuracy. |

An enhancement has been made to the Statistical Forecasting Calculator. The worksheet, “Percent Error in Forecasts,” has been added. The percent error provides additional management information useful for decision making. |

Lawal Mogaji, PhD student in Business Administration at Capella University, Minnesota, is conducting research on the impact of EVM application to construction project outcomes in Nigeria. He has included ES analysis in the research and has agreed to provide excerpts from his dissertation for publication on the ES website. |

Mr. Asaad Al-shaheen has published an article describing how to implement ES with the Primavera EVM analysis software. Connecting ES to Primavera is important due to the popularity of the tool for project managers applying EVM. As reported previously, the paper was accepted to be published and presented at the 2018 AACE International Conference this last June. However, Mr. Al-shaheen was unable to enter the USA, which caused his paper to remain unpublished. Mr. Al-shaheen persisted and submitted the article to the College of Performance Management journal, The Measurable News. The article appears in the 2018 Issue 2, pages 11-22. |

The Prediction Analysis Calculator has been significantly upgraded with version 2. The capability of the calculator extends beyond determining whether recovery is possible and the window of opportunity. The calculator has been modified to include the capability of creating a project recovery strategy. |

The Project Governance and Controls Symposium (PGCS) was held 14-16 August in Canberra, Australia. Walt Lipke was one of the keynote speakers. The ISO standard for EVM has been published. ISO 21508, Earned Value Management in Project and Programme Management, was released this past April. The committee for updating the PMI Practice Standard for Scheduling has included ES in the draft. The draft is presently in its final review process. The expectation for draft approval is February 2019 with publication to follow in October 2019. |

The Earned Schedule introduction video, first published on YouTube, 6 July 2015, has been watched nearly 4000 times. This number converts to » 4 people accessing per day. The uptake of the video has been much larger than expected and has aided in the propagation and understanding of ES. |

It has previously been reported that the ISO standard for EVM is in the final draft phase. There is now evidence that the standard is nearing availability and is scheduled to be published during April. In reviewing the table of contents, it is observed that the treatment of ES is very similar to the PMI Practice Standard for EVM; i.e., ES is described in an appendix to the standard. |

Greg Smith, the lead for the 2011 update to the PMI Practice Standard for EVM, recently attended the DOE Project Management Workshop. He reported that Dr. Ed Jaselskis included a chart in his presentation describing ES. Along with NASA, it appears ES is being applied in DOE and possibly other federal government agencies employing EVM. |
