At the September meeting of NDIA, Bill Altman and Sung Soon Stultz presented status, recommending approval of the “Predictive Measures Guide.” Significantly, the guide incorporates the ES measure and its associated indicators. The guide may be accessed at http://www.ndia.org/Divisions/Divisions/IPMD/Pages/Documents.aspx. As further evidence of the propagation of ES, AACE International has included ES in the Recommended Practice for Estimate At Completion. The draft practice is presently under review. |

Roland Horat of SuperTech reports their EVM analysis tool, EVENGINE, has added another ES capability, the p-factor. This addition facilitates analysis of out of sequence schedule performance: tasks constrained or impeded, as well as those with potential of rework. |

An article by Rajesh Virle and Sumedh Mhaske has been latently identified. The article, “Application of Earned Value and Earned Schedule to Construction Project,” was published in September 2013 in the journal, IJSER. The article adds credence to the use of ES in construction projects. |

Crosstalk recently requested an article pertaining to the topic of testing. Walt Lipke has provided an expanded version of “Testing Earned Schedule Forecasting Reliability,” previously published in the July 2014 issue of PMWJ. CrossTalk is expected to publish the article in their upcoming November issue. |

Stephen Vandevoorde has made several presentations recently – May (Sydney & Canberra), September (Spain), with two more occurring in October (Belgium & Netherlands). His presentation, “If Time Is Money, Then Accuracy Pays Dividends!,” discusses ES and the research performed at the University of Ghent. |

Roland Horat of SuperTech has reported the successful application of their EVEngine product, which utilizes ES, to a commercial fixed price construction project. Approximately a year ago EVEngine was cited by an EVM World 2013 keynote speaker. By all appearances, the project management tool is gaining in usage and application. |

For several months Dr. Robert Van De Velde has been developing the ES – Longest Path addition to the Project Flight Deck Schedule Analyzer tool. He is now in the testing mode using real data provided by Alex Davis and Kesheh Mojtaba, both from the UK. If successful, it is envisioned that this addition will greatly enhance the duration forecasting capability of Dr. Van De Velde’s product. |

On February 27 Dr. Robert Van De Velde presented a webinar, “Earned Schedule for Agile Projects,” The webinar was hosted by the College of Performance Management. Dr. Van De Velde discussed “AgileES” and its added value for managing Agile projects. The five steps for implementing AgileES was described, as well as outlining future extensions to the technique. Webinar attendees were provided a link to a free tool for calculating Agile Earned Schedule metrics. |

Along with Neil Albert, Walt Lipke is to receive the Driessnack Distinguished Service Award from the College of Performance Management (CPM). The announcement was made public in 2014 Issue I of CPM’s journal, The Measurable News. Mr. Albert received the award last November at IPMC 2013. Mr. Lipke will be presented the award at the EVM World Conference to be held in San Antonio during May. |
